Formenta Group brings together the brands Formenta, Fingal Johnsson, Danomast, Uteprodukter, Flaggfabriken Kronan, J.O. Flagstænger, Jansson & Partner and Glimma.
We develop, manufacture and market durable products and solutions for outdoor environments. Through our specialised brands, we serve companies, organisations, municipalities and individuals in markets around the world.
Our roots go back to the founding of Formenta in Sweden in 1972. Since then, entrepreneurship, long-term thinking and continuous development have shaped the group.

1972Formenta is foundedThe story of the group begins when engineer Olov Nyholm, then a production supervisor at a fibreglass manufacturer in Bredaryd, is given the opportunity to acquire a stake in the company. Olov builds his own factory and establishes Formenta AB in Värnamo.

1974Flagpoles launchedOlov Nyholm builds his first machine for manufacturing fibreglass flagpoles, which becomes Formenta’s first proprietary product. This also marks the beginning of Formenta as a brand.

1978Export beginsFormenta begins exporting flagpoles, with Denmark and the United Kingdom as its first international markets.

1985North AmericaFormenta expands its export operations to include North America.

1995Generational shiftPeter Nyholm acquires Formenta from his parents and continues to develop the family business.

2005Group expansionFormenta becomes the majority shareholder of the Dutch company Wego BV, forming Formenta-Wego BV. This marks the beginning of the group’s expansion, with a continued focus on product development and improvement.

2010Danomast joins the groupThe group acquires a majority stake in the Danish company Danomast A/S, founded in 1968.

2013Next generationOperational leadership is transferred to Peter’s sons Henrik, Carl and Nils, leading to continued development and a broader product offering.Uteprodukter is foundedThe group launches Uteprodukter.se, creating a dedicated e-commerce platform for products used in outdoor environments.

2014Flaggfabriken Kronan acquiredThe group acquires a majority shareholding in Flaggfabriken Kronan in Helsingborg, founded in 1932 and an official supplier to the Swedish Royal Palace.Entrepreneurs of the YearPeter, Henrik and Carl Nyholm are named Entrepreneurs of the Year in their hometown of Värnamo.

2019Fingal Johnsson acquiredThe group acquires all shares of AB Fingal Johnsson & Söner, founded in 1928.
